Product Designer

About the role

As a Product Designer at Youi, you will play a pivotal role in creating exceptional digital experiences that align with our business goals and fulfill customer needs within our technical landscape. Your work will span all customer and advisor-facing platforms, shaping high-impact, beautifully designed online interactions for both current and future customers.

In this role, you’ll lead the development of innovative design concepts and play a key role in shaping the Youi Design Architecture. Bringing a high level of digital design expertise across UI, UX, and interaction, along with strong proficiency in Figma, you will manage and expand component libraries and design systems for consistency and scalability, and directly contribute to enhancing one of Australia’s most distinctive brands.

To excel in this role, you should be creative, adaptable, and proactive in problem-solving. Clear communication and openness to feedback are essential, along with a commitment to continuous learning and staying current with UX best practices. Additionally, a high level of professionalism is crucial in our fast-paced environment.

Ways of working

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract covering parental leave, with the option to be based at either our HQ on the Sunshine Coast or our Fortitude Valley office.

We operate a hybrid model, with in-office days from Tuesday to Thursday. Brisbane-based candidates will be required to travel occasionally to our HQ.

Key priorities

  • Develop high-quality designs that elevate the user experience while accommodating system limitations.
  • Collaborate with developers to address technical challenges, ensuring user outcomes remain a priority.
  • Work closely with design, product, and development teams to deliver customer-centric designs that align with business goals and technical feasibility.
  • Foster open feedback within the team and cultivate strong working relationships across relevant business areas, particularly with your primary product manager.
  • Own and enhance team foundations and tools, such as the Design System.
  • Actively contribute to a positive team culture and share knowledge, insights, and experiences to drive team growth.
  • Lead cross-disciplinary initiatives, representing design perspectives and building trust across functions.
  • Mentor and guide team members on design principles and provide constructive feedback while collaborating with senior stakeholders to create user-centred products.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Arts, or a related field (or equivalent extensive work experience).
  • A diverse portfolio showcasing a range of experiences, preferably including financial services industry (FSI) exposure.
  • Proven experience collaborating in cross-functional agile teams.
  • Experience in developing digital products.
  • Skilled in engaging with, presenting to, and facilitating workshops for senior business stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of user-centred design and research methodologies, including user/industry research, user testing, wireframing, and prototyping.
  • Proficient in a variety of digital design tools, such as Sketch, Figma, Principle, InVision, and Overflow.
